Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Rojo y Negro is pure Garnacha (the local strain called Giró), with 15% alcohol and a dark and earthy profile, closer to something from Priorat than Gredos. It has black fruit and notes of shoe polish, graphite, esparto grass and a touch of peat. The palate is medium-bodied, with abundant fine tannins that give it a bit of a powdery, dry texture. I wonder if three years in barrel is not too long, as it seems like it has dried out the fruit. It has marked rusticity coupled with an animal hint. 3,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2018.
