Historia
Las orígenes de la vinificación de Oddero son difíciles de precisar, pero se sabe que los viñedos y las granjas que hoy habitan siempre han pertenecido a la familia. A través de documentos y registros, se confirma que la familia Oddero ha estado presente en el territorio de La Morra desde el siglo XVIII. Fue Giovanni Battista Oddero y sus hijos quienes comenzaron a vinificar las uvas producidas en los viñedos de La Morra entre los siglos XVIII y XIX. Gracias a ellos, el vino comenzó a ser conocido en todo el mundo.
La historia contemporánea de la bodega está inextricablemente ligada a Giacomo Oddero, quien renovó la antigua finca agrícola y luchó por elevar la calidad y el prestigio de los vinos. Bajo su liderazgo, la bodega Oddero asumió su configuración actual, expandiendo sus viñedos y promoviendo una política de calidad reconocida internacionalmente. La nueva generación, representada por Mariacristina, Isabella y Pietro, continúa la tradición con pasión y dedicación.
Viñedos
La superficie total de viñedos de la bodega Oddero es de aproximadamente 35 hectáreas, de las cuales 16,5 están cultivadas con Nebbiolo para Barolo y Barbaresco. Los suelos de la zona de Barolo son de origen sedimentario, formados gradualmente por la retirada de las aguas del mar padano en el período Mioceno Medio-Inferior. Están compuestos por marga arcillo-calcáreo y arenas en proporciones variables. Algunos de los viñedos destacados son Bussia, Rocche di Castiglione, Villero, Brunate y Roggeri.
Filosofía
La bodega Oddero ha adoptado prácticas biológicas en la gestión de sus viñedos desde 2008. Han eliminado completamente el deshierbe químico y controlan las malas hierbas mecánicamente. Utilizan cobre y azufre contra patógenos fúngicos y emplean buenas prácticas agronómicas. Todos sus viñedos de Nebbiolo, Barbera y Dolcetto están certificados como orgánicos.
En la cantina, los materiales utilizados para la vinificación son madera y acero inoxidable. Para el envejecimiento de sus vinos, utilizan grandes barricas de roble provenientes de Austria, Eslovenia y Francia. La bodega histórica de Oddero se encuentra en Santa Maria di La Morra y consta de dos partes: una para la vinificación y otra para el envejecimiento de los vinos.
