Comprar Vino de Château Lafite Rothschild
Los orígenes de Château Lafite Rothschild se remontan al siglo XIV en el que Lafite era una propiedad medieval fundada por el abad Gombaud de Lafite. En el idioma gascón “Lafite” quiere decir “colina” ya que la propiedad y sus viñedos se encuentran en lo alto de la comuna de Pauillac. Hablar de Château Lafite Rothschild seguramente nos llevaría horas, pues ésta esconde una bella historia y en las siguientes líneas trataremos de explicar brevemente su historia. Aunque algunos documentos hablan de la existencia de viñedo en Château Lafite Rothschild, no es hasta mediados del siglo XVII que la familia Ségur tomará las riendas de la propiedad e iniciará la plantación de las 74 hectáreas de Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc y Petit Verdot que actualmente configuran la propiedad. Gracias a la saga familiar de los Ségur, Lafite Rothschild es tradición, historia y uno de los mejores y más preciados vinos del mundo. También sabemos que el heredero de Jacques Ségur (fundador), se casó con la heredera de Château Latour, uniendo así ambas propiedades y dando inicio a una historia vitícola común. El marqués Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur llegó a conquistar con sus vinos en la ciudad de Londres en el 1700, logrando que su Lafite Rothschild fuera demando por el primer ministro Robert Walpole. Al mismo tiempo los Ségur conquistaban las cortes francesas en París y el palacio de Versalles; fue gracias a una prescripción médica la que un médico recetó al mariscal de Richelieu que tomará el vino Lafite Rothschild como el mejor y el más agradable de los tónicos. Tras la ingesta, Richelieu advirtió al rey Luis XV de sus efectos rejuvenecedores! En 1784 la familia Ségur quedó arruinada y tuvo que vender la propiedad a Nicolas Pierre Pichard. A partir de entonces, éste domaine será objeto de múltiples propietarios hasta que en 1868 el Baron James de Rothschild adquiere la propiedad junto a sus tres hijos. Durante los años siguientes entramos en la etapa dorada de Lafite Rothschild ya que recibe mención en la clasificación del 1855 como la primera bodega clasificada 1er Crú Classé y los vinos de los barones Rothschild son considerados como uno de los cinco mejores vinos del mundo. A principios del 1900 Lafite Rothschild entra de lleno en la etapa oscura por dos motivos evidentes: la crisis de la filoxera y el oídio que arrasan con el viñedo; y la segunda guerra mundial que lleva al ejército alemán a expropiar las propiedades de Château Lafite Rothschild y Château Mouton Rothschild. A finales de 1945 los Barones de Rothschild retomaron el control de Château Lafite Rothschild y el Barón Élie se encargó de restablecer el domaine, consolidando la propiedad entre los mercados exteriores como Estados Unidos y elevando el precio de los vinos. Con la llegada del sobrino del Barón Élie, Èric de Rothschild, ocurren una serie de cambios que llevan al domaine a una renovación de las instalaciones, el equipo técnico y la replantación del viñedo. Asimismo la propiedad amplia horizontes durante los años posteriores con la adquisición de nuevas bodegas: Château Duhart-Milon en Pauillac, Château Rieussec en Sauternes, Château L'Évangile en Pomerol, Château Paradis Casseuil en Entre Deux Mers y Château Peyre-Lebade en Haut-Médoc.
Con 104 hectáreas en activo sobre un subsuelo calcáreo de origen terciario y gravas mezcladas con arenas en superficie nacen dos vinos bajo el sello Château Lafite Rothschild: con un total de 240.000 botellas anuales de Château Lafite Rothschild, estamos ante uno de los vinos de Cabernet Sauvignon más finos y elegantes en el ranking mundial. Complejo y lleno de equilibrio!; y Carruades de Lafite es una selección de las viñas más jóvenes provenientes de las parcelas ubicadas detrás del château con orientación oeste. Se trata del segundo vino de la propiedad con mayor porcentaje de Merlot. Un vino repleto de flores, jazmín, moras y cacao amargo.
