Description
The story of Louis Jadot Puligny Montrachet stems from a deep respect for the land and an obsession to capture the purest essence ofBurgundian Chardonnay . The maison Louis Jadot, with more than 160 years of history, decided to choose Puligny Montrachet, in the prestigious Côte de Beaune, to make a wine that would speak unadornedly of the soil, altitude and breeze of this unique hillside. There, on gentle slopes between 230 and 390 metres, the chalky soils, rich in stones and well-drained, give the wine its characteristic mineral tension. In a difficult vintage, the team took an unorthodox decision: to reduce yields as much as possible and harvest only by hand, cluster by cluster, in small boxes. The result was a more concentrated, intact and vibrant grape.
Winemaking
Once in the cellar, the Louis Jadot Puligny Montrachet grapes are pressed extremely gently. The must ferments in oak barrels, with approximately 30% new wood, chosen for its neutral and elegant profile. The wine is then aged for about 15 months on its fine lees, without aggressive battonage, which enhances its texture and depth without dulling the expression of the terroir. Clarification and bottling are carried out in a delicate manner to preserve its purity to the maximum.
Taste
On the nose, Louis Jadot Puligny Montrachet displays a refined profile: lemon, white flower, yellow apple, almond and a discreet note of vanilla and brioche. The background is markedly mineral: chalk, wet stone, even a touch of smoke. The palate is taut and precise. The acidity is vibrant, almost electric, but perfectly integrated into a slender, enveloping body. Long finish, with hints of citrus zest, fresh butter and salinity. This is not a lush Chardonnay, but one that seduces with its restraint and nerve. Ideal for pairing with seafood, ceviche, sushi or delicate vegetarian dishes. A wine that does not seek to impress immediately, but rather to remain in the memory for its elegance and restrained energy.
