Le Petit Gimios is the project founded by Anne-Marie Lavaysse in 1993 and then continued with her son Pierre, in Saint Jean de Minervois, in the Herault department of Languedoc. There, they have recovered abandoned and very low-yielding vines to produce wines certified as biodynamic by Ecocert.
Le Petit Gimios vineyards
In 1993, Anne-Marie founded this domaine in Languedoc and undertook the project of recovering old abandoned vineyards, based on biodynamic practices, which would later earn her the certificate issued by Ecocert.Under the guidance of his son Pierre, they now cultivate a total of five hectares of very low-yielding vineyards (up to 8 hectolitres per hectare). They are located at an altitude of 320 metres above sea level, have calcareous soils rich in fossils and are surrounded by Mediterranean scrubland, which gives them a very rich terroir.
Wines of Le Petit Gimios
The wines of Le Petit Gimios are natural and biodynamic wines, with very low yields (which may explain their price). Among their most outstanding wines, we can find the young red wines Le Petit Domaine de Gimios Rouge de Causse 2016 and Le Petit Gimios Rouge Fruit 2016, and the young rosé wine Le Petit Rosé de Gimios 2016.
