Buy Wine from Bodegas Roda
Bodega Roda is part of a new generation of the wine sector in La Rioja. Nowadays it is known for the production of its elegant wines.
The history of Bodega Roda
The great adventure began in 1987 with Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella and, as you can see, their surnames form the name. They both arrived in La Rioja to create a project with innovative contributions to the world of wine. This is where their exciting story begins.
After its foundation in 1987, its infrastructure and facilities have adapted to the needs of the moment and the pace of development.
During the years 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2008, these facilities have grown structurally in four phases.
Growth and modernisation have been carried out in accordance with the problems of the time, and in 2018 it was possible to optimise energy efficiency and use renewable energies.
In each phase, innovation and tailoring to Bodega Roda's wines has been considered. For this reason, vats have been added to the selected vineyards, a bioclimatic room and two ageing cellars dug directly into the rock.
Likewise, the winemaking process is carried out with a firm respect for the winemaking tradition of La Rioja and its native grape varieties.
Location of the winery
The winery is located in La Rioja, specifically on the banks of the river Ebro, on a balcony in the La Estación district of Haro, on a 19th century cellar. These facilities were used by winegrowers to store the harvests and send them to Bordeaux by rail in order to reduce the difficulties caused by phylloxera.
Discover its vineyards
The vineyards are laid out in the classic traditional Rioja goblet formation. Although most of their vineyards are located in Haro and nearby villages (Rioja Alta), others are located in the Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja sub-areas. This results in a blend of different nuances in their wines.
Winemaking
The selection of the grapes and the day they are harvested is the most complex and essential process in the production of quality wine.
Harvesting at Bodegas Roda is carried out by hand, very respectfully, and by expert hands: by a team of people with extensive experience. The grapes are harvested in boxes of 18 kilos from the selected vineyards every day.
Curiosities of Bodegas Roda
We never use wines made in other years to standardise or refresh a vintage. Nor are vinifications from other wineries purchased.
Old vines are used, mainly because of the extraordinary qualities they bring to the wines produced by the winery.
The crops are sustainable, chemical synthesis products are avoided and the processes and natural cycles are respected as much as possible.
Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlledFrench oak vats and ageing is 100% in French oak barrels.
And you, haven't you tried any wine from Bodegas Roda yet? You will love them!
