Buy Wine from Domaine Rolet
Domaine Rolet is located in the Jura region, one of France's most emblematic wine-growing areas. Founded in 1942 by Désiré Rolet, this winery quickly became a jewel of the Jura vineyard. The second generation, composed of Désiré's four children: Pierre, Eliane, Guy and Bernard, took over the reins and continued the tradition, consolidating the winery's reputation.
In 2018, the Rolet family passed the baton to three families passionate about wine and the Jura: the Flambert family, with a long hotel tradition; the Dupuis family, specialising in sports equipment; and the Devillard family, vignerons in Burgundy. Today, the team is led by Cédric Ducoté as manager; Chloé Weber as cellar manager; and Louis Morel as vineyard manager.Vineyards
Domaine Rolet extends over 66 hectares, spread over the best slopes of the AOC Arbois, Côtes du Jura, L'Étoile and Château-Chalon, ranking second among the independent wineries of the Jura. The vineyards are planted on beautiful hillsides, some of which have steep slopes that make the soil difficult to work. The soils in Jura are complex and vary according to appellations and geographical locations. For example: red and blue sands are dedicated to Poulsard; heavy gravels, which are also warmer soils, are perfect for Trousseau; light sands are suitable for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; and grey sands are ideal for Savagnin wines.
Philosophy
The philosophy of Domaine Rolet is based on tradition and quality. The winery only makes wines from grapes grown in their own vineyards, which are exclusively harvested by hand. They grow the 5 typical Jura grape varieties: Chardonnay and Savagnin for the white wines, and Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir for the reds. Each variety is planted in the soil best suited to its specific characteristics to produce high quality wines. Since the arrival of Cédric Ducoté in 2018, the reflection to work in organic farming was initiated, and in 2020, part of the vineyards are in the process of organic conversion.
