Buy Wine from Paolo Scavino
The Paolo Scavino winery is a historic jewel in the Barolo region. It was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Farming has always been a family tradition and passion. Enrico Scavino, together with his daughters Enrica and Elisa, representing the fourth generation, run the family farm.
Enrico started working full time in the winery in 1951 when he was only 10 years old. He is a young winemaker who inherited the passion and devotion for the land to which he belongs. Through more than 60 years of experience, his approach has been to invest in important cru of Nebbiolo to showcase the uniqueness of each terroir. Their work is inspired by the love and respect they have for their territory, and they seek purity of expression, complexity and elegance for their wines from the three local grapes: Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo. These values and culture have been handed down and have never changed.Vineyards
Paolo Scavino owns 30 hectares entirely in the Barolo area and works 20 historic Barolo crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba, Verduno, Roddi and Monforte d'Alba. From the beginning, the Scavino family has distinguished itself for its meticulous care of the vineyards and its passion for terroir. Their fundamental belief is the supremacy of viticulture over oenology, so the focus is on the care of the vines to grow ripe and healthy grapes. In winemaking, they seek minimal and equal interventions to preserve the natural diversities and terroir.
Philosophy
Paolo Scavino focuses on winemaking and winemaking techniques, combining tradition and innovation. Enrico Scavino, for example, is described as someone who knows how to observe progress without being reactionary conservative. For each wine produced, depending on the vintage, he chooses the right path without blindly following tradition and without passively following innovation.
