Buy Wine from Wagner Stempel
The Wagner Stempel winery is located in Siefersheim, situated in the far west of the German region known as Rheinhessen, a few kilometres south of the town of Bad Kreuznach. This region is characterised by a landscape of steep hills of volcanic origin, dotted with heathland, unspoilt streams and small brooks, old stone quarries and rock-covered walls, forming the Rheinhessen volcanic bridge to the Nahe valley.
Vineyards
The terroir of Wagner Stempel is truly unique. The elevations of Martinsberg, Heerkretz, Goldenes Horn and Höllberg surround the village like the balconies of an ancient amphitheatre. These lands originated in the Permian some 250 million years ago, and the magmatic rock beneath has influenced the unique flora and fauna of the region.
Höllberg, formed by volcanic rocks and located north of Siefersheim, is the warmest site. Its southern exposure and stony soil produce wines with prominent mineral notes and spicy, fruity aromas. On the other hand, Heerkretz is a steep volcanic slope in the south of Siefersheim, with conditions that give the wine a lively character, with subtle, complex aromas and refreshing acidity.
Philosophy
Wagner Stempel's winemaking philosophy is based on the principle that outstanding wines are made in the vineyard. Daniel Wagner has concentrated his efforts on classic varieties such as Silvaner, Pinot Blanc and especially Riesling, and has adopted organic production methods. Extensive measures are implemented to reduce yields, including hand pruning and canopy management, as well as selective hand picking in autumn. This passion for wine is reflected in wines characterised by clarity and freshness, challenging, complex and concentrated.
