Buy Wine from Bera Vittorio E Figli
The Bera Vittorio e Figli winery is located in the heart of Piedmont, a renowned Italian wine region. Located specifically in Sant'Antonio di Canelli, this winery has roots dating back to 1785, when the ancestors of the Bera family acquired part of the land from the Knights of Malta.
At that time, the cultivation of grapes, and in particular of the Moscato grape, was already well established since the 13th century. At the end of the 18th century and during the 19th and 20th centuries, the fame of Moscato (known as Asti Spumante) spread all over the world. However, the Bera family distinguished itself from the others: they were the first to bottle and market their own wine in the Canelli region. The winery has been run by several generations of the Bera family, but in 2002, Alessandra Bera, a passionate winemaker, contacted international importers to present her wines. Alessandra had been recommended by French winemaker friends, who believed that her style of natural viticulture would be perfect for certain selections. Today, Alessandra and her brother Gianluigi, who is in charge of winemaking, are in charge of keeping tradition and innovation alive in the winery.
Vineyards
The Bera Vittorio e Figli winery is proud of its vineyards located in the Serra Masio region, one of the most prestigious and oldest areas for Moscato production. The grapes grown are mainly Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, and are cultivated on steep south-east facing slopes with calcareous marl soils, of ancient oceanic origin. Organic viticulture is fundamental to the winery, with an emphasis on creating an active and healthy ecosystem. All grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring the highest quality.
Philosophy
The Bera family has a clear philosophy: to produce wines of the highest quality while respecting nature and traditions. They pride themselves on their natural viticulture approach. They do not use inoculations in the fermentation process, allowing the natural yeasts to do their work. Alessandra's brother Gianluigi is in charge of vinification, and under his supervision, the wines do not undergo any filtering, fining or SO2 addition.
Besides the famous Moscato d'Asti, the Bera winery also produces other wines. They grow white varieties such as Cortese, Favorita and Arneis, which they blend to create a delicious white wine called Arcese. As for the reds, they grow Dolcetto and Barbera with the same care and attention they devote to their Moscato vineyards.
