The Marcel Lapierre winery is located in the heart of Beaujolais, specifically in the commune of Villié-Morgon. The history of this winery dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. In 1909, Michel Lapierre settled in Villié-Morgon and became the winemaker of Domaine Les Chênes. His son Camille, born in 1911, started working in the vineyards at the age of 14 and later continued the family winemaking tradition. In 1958, Camille started bottling his own wine under his own name and in 1960 he acquired his first vineyard plots.
Vineyards
Domaine Marcel Lapierre 's vineyards are spread over 18 hectares, mainly in the Morgon appellation and some plots in Beaujolais. The terroir of this region is unique due to its geological origin. More than 500 million years ago, intense submarine volcanic activity and a major collision between continents gave rise to a mountainous formation with a high content of granite and other minerals. This geological formation has been slowly eroded, creating a superficial soil called "gore" which is ideal for growing Gamay Noir.
The climate of Beaujolais is temperate oceanic with continental influences. This translates into cold and rainy winters, warm and humid springs, dry and hot summers, and autumns with warm days and cool nights, ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes.

Vinification at Domaine Marcel Lapierre is carried out with as few interventions as possible. The Gamay grapes are whole vatted for carbonic maceration. This process, in an environment saturated with CO2, allows for intracellular fermentation that preserves the fruity aromas and reduces the acidity of the wine. During fermentation, no exogenous yeasts, sulphites or other chemical additives are added.
