Buy Wine from Puro Rofe
The Puro Rofe winery is renowned for its passion and commitment to producing high quality wines in Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands.
Founded in 2017, this winery, which was born thanks to the agreement between locals and kind outsiders, has managed to consolidate itself in the market thanks to its constant search for excellence in each of its bottles, but especially because the production is done in an artisanal way and with an ecological and sustainable production.
History of the winery
Carmelo Peña, Pedro Umpierrez, Vicente Torres and Ascensión Robaina are in charge of giving life to what some experts consider to be the best wines in Spain, which they work at their own pace, giving the greatest care to the vineyards.
Winemaker Carmelo Peña was a student of three of the island's most renowned wine distributors, Rayco Fernández, Dirk Niepoort and Raúl Pérez.
Although it is one of the youngest wineries, since its foundation it has been an example of dedication and perseverance in the search for perfection. Over time, Puro Rofe has managed to consolidate itself in the market as a benchmark of quality in wine production.
Thanks to the combination of traditional and modern techniques, the winery has managed to produce wines with a unique personality, capable of transmitting the essence of the land where the grapes are grown.
Today, Puro Rofe has become a national and international benchmark winery. Its wine catalogue is wide and varied, and its commitment to respect for the environment and craftsmanship remains a constant in each of its wines.
Techniques used in the Puro Rofe winery
At the Puro Rofe winery, the winemaking tradition is combined with modern technology to produce high quality wines. Taking into account that the climate in Lanzarote varies every 5 km, the creators of the Puro Rofe winery try to apply vinification by zones. In this sense, each grape is cultivated according to its particular characteristics of origin, among others. Among the techniques used in the winery, the following stand out:
Manual harvesting: The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure that the grapes are harvested at their optimum ripeness and the highest quality bunches are selected.
Manual grape selection: After the grapes are harvested, a manual selection of the grapes is made to ensure that only the best grapes are used in the winemaking process.
Traditional fermentation: Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts.
Ageing in barrels: The wines are aged in barrels.
Vineyards
As for the vineyards, Puro Rofe has plots of land located in Lanzarote. The vineyards are cultivated in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way, using techniques such as the selection of the best grapes to obtain a quality production.
Some of the areas where the vineyards are cultivated are La Geria, Masdache, Juan Bello, El Grifo, Montaña la Vieja, among others. The climate of the area is mainly warm, rainfall is scarce and the island's soils are volcanic sand.
Wide variety of wines, with unique character
Puro Rofe wines are renowned for their high quality and unique character. The winery has a wide variety of wines, from young and fresh to aged wines with long ageing in barrels. All of them share their own personality and an identity that reflects the essence of the land where the grapes are grown.
