The Alex Foillard winery, a name that resonates with prestige in the wine world, is anchored in the Beaujolais region of France. This winery, though relatively young, founded in 2016, carries with it a rich winemaking heritage. Alex Foillard, son of renowned producer Jean Foillard of Morgon's "Gang of Four", grew up immersed in the world of wine, specifically the sustainable farming and low-intervention winemaking practices that catapulted his father to fame in natural wine circles.

From an early age, Alex showed a keen interest in the vineyards, helping to harvest grapes alongside his father. Intent on perpetuating the family tradition of producing artisanal Beaujolais Cru, Alex trained in agriculture at the Lycée Agricole de Montpellier and then obtained a degree in viticulture and oenology in Beaune. During his studies, he did an internship at a respected domaine in Nuits-Saint-Georges, followed by international experiences in Australia and Japan. Returning to Beaujolais in 2015, Alex devoted himself entirely to the family domaine.
In 2016, aged just twenty-four, Alex acquired his own vineyards, approximately one hectare in the crus of Brouilly and Côte-de-Brouilly, thus diversifying the Foillard cellars, hitherto dominated by Morgon and occasionally Fleurie. Although the vineyards were not certified organic, Alex immediately started working them according to organic principles, marking his first vintage in 2016.

Alex Foillard 's vineyards are spread over rich and diverse soils. In Côte-de-Brouilly, the vineyards, 30 and 60 years old, sit on schist, granite and a light layer of sand. On the other hand, in Brouilly, the 50-year-old vineyards lie on granite under a thin layer of soil. Philosophy

Alex Foillard 's winemaking philosophy focuses on minimal intervention winemaking, following in his father's footsteps. His techniques include whole cluster fermentation using natural yeasts, no fining or filtration, and no additives except for a minimal dose of sulphur at bottling. This approach brings out the purity and authentic expression of the terroir in his wines.
