Bodegas Atalaya is located in the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Almansa, a wine region located in the province of Albacete, in the east of Spain. Vineyards
Bodegas Atalaya 's vineyards are located on predominantly limestone soils, ideal for growing the varieties that define its wines. These lands are located about 700 metres above sea level, an altitude that favours a cooler climate, ideal for the slow ripening of the grapes and the concentration of aromas and flavours. The winery has 65 hectares of vineyards, distributed in plots where old Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell vines predominate.
The climate of the area is continental, with a marked Mediterranean influence that moderates the extreme temperatures. This climate is characterised by cold winters and hot, dry summers, with an annual rainfall of no more than 350 mm. These conditions of low rainfall and low soil fertility cause the vines to grow slowly, resulting in low yields, but of very high quality. The grapes harvested in these lands have a high concentration of colour, tannins and aromas, which is essential for the production of intense wines with a long bottle life.
