Buy Wine from Condado de Haza
Talking about Condado de Haza is like going back to childhood days, to memories of days when our parents drank Rioja wines daily in cheap glasses and dishes were served in traditional low-priced tableware… what memories! One could not imagine that behind Rioja wines there would be anything else. Then, on special occasions or celebration days where everything was possible and family dinners required an extra effort, Alejandro Fernández Pesquera wines appeared: Tinto Pesquera and Condado de Haza. Looking back, thinking about it, you realize how much the wine scene has changed and how wine preferences have developed into a more modern style. What about you? Are you a good classic wine lover?
Condado de Haza is created in 1987 when Alejandro Fernández discovers a hillside close to the Duero River with unbeatable conditions to produce one of the best Ribera del Duero appellation wines: a plot with a gentle slope leading down to the river with interesting soils made of a clay and gravel mixture. First of all, Alejandro purchased a few hectares of Tempranillo vineyards but ultimately he got plots from more than 200 countrymen in Roa, reaching nowadays 200 hectares. During the first years while the new winery was being built, Alejandro carried out all wine-making at his other winery Tinto Pesquera.
But it seems that time does not pass for Alejandro and the way he works in the vineyards and his wine-making procedures are the same, he keeps on applying the same vineyard selection's standards and depending on the health and ripeness of the grapes they would be used to produce crianza, reserva or gran reserva wines at Condado de Haza. Therefore there are only three types of wine apart from some special edition only in exceptionally good years. Which are Condado de Haza wines? Condado de Haza Crianza is a wine aged in American oak barrels for 18 months with the old taste of those ancient wines where astringent and green notes merge perfectly… a taste of the past! Condado de Haza Reserva is born at Viña Valera plot and later on aged for 22 months almost without racking. An elegant wine, rich in spices, it is velvet in its purest state. And Alenza, a special selection, not produced every year. Perhaps it has more complexity and sternness than his brother from Condado de Haza Reserva. Is it possible that Alejandro portrays his selection as something more modern?
Condado de Haza: back to the innocence!
