Buy Wine from Barrat Masson
The Barrat-Masson champagne cellar is located in the heart of the Champagne region of France. This winery was born in 2010, the fruit of the joint life project of Aurélie, a passionate oenologist, and Loïc, a dedicated winegrower. Both shared the dream of making high quality champagnes that reflected their passion for vines and wine.
Vineyards
The terroir of the Barrat Masson champagnes is spread over seven hectares of organically farmed land. These lands are located from Villenauxe-la-Grande to Bethon and are planted with 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir.
In 2005, Loïc took over the family farm in Bethon, quickly replacing herbicides with ploughing techniques. With the support of Aurélie, who advocates nature-friendly viticulture, they began the conversion to organic viticulture in 2009. Loïc, with his experience and convictions, practices precise and rigorous viticulture, essential for organic production and quality grapes. Through careful monitoring of the vines throughout the viticultural season and with adapted tools, Loïc is able to respond to the smallest needs of the plant.
Philosophy
Barrat Masson focuses on allowing the wine to express the best of itself. Aurélie oversees every detail, from the arrival of the grapes at the press to the dispatch of the bottles.
They have chosen a traditional Coquard press for the quality of the juice it produces. Aurélie works especially with the first pressings and vinifies each parcel separately, both in stainless steel tanks and in oak barrels and demi-muids.
This diversity of techniques allows her to have a detailed vision of all the plots of the domaine and to make precise blends to develop wines with character. The quality of the grapes is essential; they are harvested at optimum ripeness. Vinification is carried out in the least intrusive way possible, respecting the wine and allowing it to develop over time. Even disgorgement is carried out à la volée, in keeping with tradition.
The combination of Loïc's experience in the vineyard and Aurélie's technical knowledge and precision allow the Barrat Masson champagnes to achieve a remarkable taste, made in a natural way.
