In the heart of the Côte de Beaune, where the history and terroir of Burgundy merge in each plot, Vincent Girardin has been able to build a legend based on purity, respect for the land and a unique sensitivity in interpreting the vineyard.
Although the Girardin family has been cultivating vines in Santenay since the 17th century, the modern story begins in 1980, when a young Vincent Girardin, just 19 years old and with two hectares inherited from his parents, decided to set his own course. His ambition was not just to make good wines, but to capture the soul of each terroir with precision and authenticity.
Prestigious Vineyards and Respect for Terroir
Today, Maison Vincent Girardin makes wines from some of the most renowned appellations of the Côte de Beaune : Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard, Savigny-lès-Beaune, among others. Each plot, each hillside, each soil is treated as a microcosm that deserves individual attention.
The work in the vineyard is guided by a sustainable and reasoned philosophy, avoiding systemic herbicides and pesticides. Practices are adjusted to the rhythms of nature: precise pruning, manual harvesting, constant observation. The aim is to preserve the integrity of the fruit and its loyalty to the soil in which it was grown.
Precise Vinification for Transparent and Elegant Wines
In the cellar, intervention is minimal. Indigenous yeasts, natural fermentations, low doses of sulphites and ageing on fine lees allow each wine to speak with its own voice. There is no artifice here, just a rigorous search for clarity and balance. The result is sincere wines, with an elegant structure and palpable minerality, which reveal with transparency the character of their origin.
Whites and reds that embody the essence of Burgundy
The whites, especially the Chardonnay from Meursault or Puligny Montrachet, are dominated by a vibrant tension between freshness and depth. They are precise wines, with subtle aromas, which evolve gracefully in the bottle. The Pinot Noir reds, such as the Cuvée Saint-Vincent, exhibit pure fruit, silky tannins and a finesse that reflects the Burgundian soul at its best.
Continuity and Excellence Under the Hand of Eric Germain
Although Vincent Girardin relinquished the management in 2012, the spirit of the Maison remains intact under the management of Eric Germain, its winemaker for more than 20 years. His continuity ensures a stylistic line that combines technique, sensitivity and respect for the vineyard.
Drinking Vincent Girardin: A True Burgundy Experience
To drink a Vincent Girardin wine is to approach the most honest essence of Burgundy: a complex, diverse, but also profoundly elegant region when interpreted with authenticity. It is a journey through its soils, climates and generations that have made this land one of the most fascinating in the wine world
