Buy Wine from Philine Isabelle
The Philine Isabelle winery is located in the Barolo region of Piedmont, in the municipality of Monforte D'Alba. Philine Isabelle, of German origin, began her interest in agriculture at the age of 16. After briefly studying Politics and Administration at the University of Konstanz in 2009, she decided to abandon formal education in search of a more practical career. Her father had a passion for wine, and his job at a local restaurant led her towards viticulture.
For almost a decade, Philine worked at several biodynamic estates, including Odinstal, Pranzegg and Heinrich. She also worked as a consultant for master pruners Simonit & Sirch. Currently, she rents a 1.2 hectare plot in Preda, located between Cannubi and Vignane, where she works tirelessly to create a Barolo that balances simplicity with complexity.Vineyards
Philine rents a plot in Preda, which is planted with Nebbiolo and a few rows (0.3 hectares) of Chardonnay at the bottom of the slope. Although not yet certified biodynamic, Philine plans to start the certification process in the future. Her work in the vineyard is meticulous, and she firmly believes that this is crucial to ensure that bright, elegant fruit is brought to the press. He does not prune the vines, preferring instead to bend the apical shoots, forming arches. Given his experience with Simonit & Sirch, he devotes a lot of time to pruning, where the health and balance of the vine guides each cut.
Philosophy
At the heart of her philosophy is the belief that work in the vineyard is essential to ensure that bright, elegant fruit is brought to the press. In its wines, Philine aims for a pure, fresh and lively profile. She hopes to produce wines that are fine, well-structured and intellectual.
His Nebbiolo wines, for now, are completely destemmed. Fermentation is spontaneous, with maceration lasting as long as fermentation lasts. With a fairly basic cellar, malolactic fermentation occurs when it occurs. Ageing for their reds takes place in oak barrels.
For their Chardonnay wine, the grapes are immediately pressed with the stems. The must is racked into cement tanks where it begins fermentation and then rests until bottling.
