Pierre Beauger is the anti-establishment rebel of the natural wine world. Born and raised in Montaigut-le-Blanc, Auvergne (France), he has been creating highly personal and individualistic bottles since 2001. Pierre is not interested in local conventions. He refuses to submit his wines to the compulsory tastings required to achieve AOC status as Côtes d'Auvergne.
Pierre Beauger's vineyard
Pierre initially rented two small plots with chardonnay and gamay grapes, but today he owns his own vineyards, which he planted in 2004 and 2007. It is exclusively from here that he makes his own wines. He grows gamay, pinot gris and sauvignon blanc. He became famous for his late harvest, preferring to harvest late and with very ripe fruit. As a consequence, the grapes often come concentrated with a high alcohol potential. But this is never reflected in his wines, which are not at all heavy to drink, but rather deep and vibrant. All his work in the vineyards is done by hand, and the work on the land is done with his ox.
