The winery of natural wines Ton Rimbau is located in Vilobí del Penedès (Catalonia, Spain). After the farmer Ton Rimbau suffered a strong intoxication when applying insecticide and fungicide in his vineyards, he turns to work the vineyards by the Permaculture system and to elaborate wines exclusively according to the biodynamic principles.
Ton Rimbau vineyards
In the vineyards of Ton Rimbau they work with the permaculture system, maintaining the vineyards as if they were a forest. The weeds are crushed with a roller and mowed.This system allows us to work taking advantage of the autonomous force of nature and the balance of its elements, fauna and flora, without the need to use insecticides or chemical products, as the ecosystem itself maintains a balance that allows the vines to grow healthy and resistant. The spiders act as natural insecticides against moths, based on the homeopathic system.
To compensate for possible imbalances in its vineyards, Ton Rimbau makes its own biofertilisers, helping its vines to remineralise and grow healthy.
In these vineyards with clay-limestone soils, the decision to harvest is made by observing the bees and according to the lunar calendar. During the harvest, the grapes are placed in the bins without being thrown away, so as not to damage them, and as the grapes are harvested, they are stored in a refrigerated lorry to lower the temperature and stabilise it between 5 and 7 degrees, with the aim of maintaining the aromas of the fruit during pressing.
The grapes are pressed, macerated, fermented and rounded with its fine lees at low temperature, in order to extract all its aromas. After 9 months of ageing in new French oak barrels, the wine is bottled.

The artisan elaboration of their wines is based on interfering as little as possible in the natural ripening process of the fruit. By not ploughing the land, no fine particles or dust are added to the air, and the wines from the Ton Rimbau winery contain no added sulphites.Among their outstanding wines are Porcellànic Xarel·lo Sur Lie 2016, Porcellànic Xarel·lo 2016, Porcellànic Xarel·lo Orangebi 2016 and Ton Rimbau Porcellànic Macabeu 2016.
The wines of the Porcellànic line are bottled in ceramic bottles, preserving the wine from the negative effects of light.
