Buy Wine from Els Bardissots
The Bodega Els Bardissots winery was founded with the aim of recovering the winemaking tradition in the Vallès region, in the process restoring several vineyards that had been abandoned.
This project is more than just the fulfilment of a few goals, as the winemakers have dedicated a great deal of effort to recovering the winemaking history of the Alella mountain range.
Like many wineries in Catalonia, the philosophy of those who run the winery focuses on applying ecological techniques to the production of their wines, with minimal intervention in the addition of chemicals and the use of indigenous yeasts.
Let's talk about its history
Els Bardissots is a project that was born in 2016 with the idea of Pep Pou, Pilar Rosell and Oriol Artigas. These winegrowers established specific objectives that include, as a premise, small productions of wines, but that guarantee the personality of each one.
For the wines of this winery they use grapes grown in old vines, especially the Beier type, a very typical red grape variety of this region, which at that time was no longer vinified. Today they work with a wide variety of grapes , including Muscat of Alexandria, Ullde Lebre, Garnatxa Tintorera, Alicante Bouschet, Pansa Blanca, Sumoll, Jaqué, Xarel Lo, Picapol, among others.
It was in 2010 when these three people met and decided to study oenology. Although none of them have ancestors in this sector, they have learned from the ground up what is involved in making wine, applying ecological techniques without chemical intervention, maintaining the policy that united them at the beginning.
The name of the winery comes from a type of plant that grows outside the vineyards, which translates into the philosophy of not fitting the wines into any commercial framework, but on the contrary, being a revaluation of the potential of the Vallés region.
Techniques used
As we have already mentioned, the production of wines at Bodegas Els Bardissots is without chemical intervention, as the idea is to guarantee the natural personality of each type of wine.
During the harvest, the grapes are selected and destemmed by hand, ensuring that both the skin and the pulp remain intact and that the harvest is carried out at the optimum level of ripeness.
As we have added above, no chemicals are added to the wines at any stage, nor are they filtered or clarified to remove sediment, as the oenologists consider that they lose structure and body.
Bottling is also carried out using manual methods, thus preserving the personality of each wine.
The wines from this winery have fruity, citrus and juicy flavours, with light lingering on the palate and some crisp nuances.
Vineyards
The vineyards of this winery are 80 or 90 years old, which were leased in Cardedeu and Granollers. They are located in the mountain range of Alella, in the Eastern Vallès of Catalonia.
Each of the plots is worked individually, cultivating reduced portions, as established by the winegrowers who run this winery.
Fruity and juicy wines
The wines of this winery are characterised by their marked hints of wild fruit, using a particular grape variety, the Beier, which was recovered by this project. Later, other grape varieties were incorporated, maintaining the objective of producing on a minimum scale.
