Buy Wine from La Perdida
La Perdida is the name of winemaker Nacho González's natural wine project. One quite unlike any other in the DO region of Valdeorras, Galicia (Spain). He has always defended his point of view on natural winemaking. Nacho, a biologist by training, became fully dedicated to the art of winemaking when his grandmother gave him a vineyard called "O Trancado".
Vineyard of La Perdida
These lands, which were completely abandoned, were revived thanks to his agricultural work and his fervent desire to save the old vines. His work is reflected in his active search for isolated and remote vineyards. He finds old, abandoned vineyards on the hillsides and works hard to make them healthy again. Nacho works on four hectares of vineyards, all cultivated organically with some biodynamic practices. Always respecting the nature and biodiversity of the vineyard. He grows different grape varieties: garnacha tintorera, palomino, godello, mencía and sumoll. All of them are of mixed varietals, planted together. Nacho is completely traditional in the vineyard and strives to demonstrate his love for protecting the culture.
Wines of La Perdida
Inspiring great exclusivity, he only produces around 300 cases a year in a small winery in the village of Larouco. Juicy, vibrant, deep, complex and mineral. Wide is the range it aims at, not at all lost. A set of aromas that transpire years of myth, impregnated in the earth, contagious in each cluster. Nacho has never used sulphur. He bottles without fining, without filtering and without added sulphites. For example, his non-crianza white, Malas Uvas 2020, a varietal of Palomino and Doña Blanca, is made with cold skin maceration for a week in stainless steel tanks, prior to spontaneous alcoholic fermentation.
