Description
Les Terres De Philéandre was not born as "just another label", but as an almost intimate act: in 2018, David Duband launched this small négociant project and named it after his twins, Philomène and Léandre, like someone signing a promise for the future. Buying selected grapes - but vinifying them with the same obsession as a domaine - was his courageous decision: to step out of the comfort zone and let each origin speak without make-up. Here the voice is Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru, an enclave of the most authentic Burgundy, where Pinot Noir becomes more "stone" than "perfume", more nerve than sweetness. The Aux Clous plot, on a hillside at the entrance to the village, combines limestone marl and clay: a soil that demands precision, not artifice, and which gives the quiet tension so typical of Burgundy.
Winemaking
At Les Terres De Philéandre Savigny-Lés-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Clous, the grapes are hand-picked and rigorously sorted; Duband seeks purity, not volume. His signature is to work with whole bunches (often a high proportion) and an extraction so subtle that it seems choreographed: maceration with the stem to gain structure without harshness, pigeage at the foot when necessary and patience for the wine to assemble itself. Fermentation is carried out with a minimal intervention approach and ageing continues in oak barrels, with a measured contribution of new wood (in his philosophy, around 30%). Bottling avoids make-up: more real texture, less "cosmetic", preserving the pulse of the terroir.
Taste
In Les Terres De Philéandre Savigny-Lés-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Clous the nose doesn't shout: it insinuates itself. First, restrained red fruit - fresh cherry and raspberry - and then the fine layers: a thread of discreet violet, soft spices and that chalky mineral trace that reminds you of where it comes from. The palate is fine, silky, medium-bodied, with polished tannin and an acidity that marks the passage without biting: it moves straight ahead, clean, without excess jam. The finish leaves an elegant, slightly floral and saline trail, as if this Premier Cru de Savigny-lès-Beaune wanted to show that Burgundy elegance can also be firm: a red wine from Burgundy with more tension than muscle, more detail than volume.
