Description

At the top of Meursault, on a steep slope of stony soils and lively limestone, lies Pierre Morey Meursault Les Tessons, one of the most prestigious village-level vineyards in the commune. Already in 1855, Dr. Lavalle classified it as "Première Cuvée", on a par with today's Meursault premier crus. After decades of abandonment following phylloxera, this plot was only replanted in the 1950s, and it is Pierre Morey who has been able to give it back its voice with a unique sensitivity.

Pierre Morey, an absolute reference in Burgundy and a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture, has been growing Chardonnay here since 1978. His approach - organic, patient, intuitive - seeks a balance between the mineral expression of the terroir and the delicacy of the fruit. On poor, erodible soils, the vines struggle, concentrate and give their best.

Winemaking

The vinification of Pierre Morey Meursault Les Tessons begins with a gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by a natural racking of 12 to 24 hours. Fermentation takes place on fine lees in oak barrels (20-50% new), where the wine is also aged for 16 to 20 months. Bottling is carried out by gravity, without filtration unless indispensable, preserving the wine's identity intact.

Taste

Pierre Morey Meursault Les Tessons offers a refined, taut expression of Meursault Chardonnay. On the nose, notes of citrus peel, dried white flower and warm stone intertwine with traces of fresh butter and hazelnut. On the palate, it is straight, vibrant and saline, with precise acidity that lengthens the passage and underlines its Burgundian minerality. There is no excess, but an austere, almost severe purity that is moving. The white fruit (pear, apple) is barely hinted at, always at the service of the soil. A serious Meursault, sculpted in stone, with remarkable ageing potential.
