The spellbinding 2005 Tokaji Eszencia is pure Furmint picked through several selections and aged in the cellars for four years. Delivering a whopping 592 grams per liter residual sugar and 1.5% alcohol, it has a fabulous, very pure bouquet with notes of quince, apricot, white peach and just a touch of Earl Grey. It is very well-defined considering the huge sugar content. The palate is mellifluous, orgiastic and extraordinarily pure, with a sublime, unctuous finish that you can feel “glooping” down your throat. This constitutes one of the finest Eszencia wines that I have tasted. Just 428 half-bottles were produced. Drink now-2020+.
