Description
In the heart of Turckheim, Alsace, where the sun slowly ripens the grapes on deep gravelly alluvial soils, the Humbrecht family cultivates tradition and the land with millimetric respect. Zind Humbrecht Riesling Turckheim comes from vineyards surrounding the winery, on flat, stony soils which, thanks to their excellent sun exposure, allow them to reach full maturity without losing tension or freshness. For Olivier Humbrecht, master of wine and passionate advocate of biodynamics, even the least dramatic plots hide a mineral truth that deserves to be heard and bottled.
Winemaking
Biodynamics, more than a method, is a philosophy that permeates every corner of the vineyard: the vines are cultivated without chemicals, following the lunar rhythm and reinforcing the vitality of the soil with natural preparations. The grapes that give life to Zind Humbrecht Riesling Turckheim, harvested by hand at the right moment, ferment slowly with indigenous yeasts in large old oak vats, where they remain for 12 months on their fine lees, without unnecessary intervention. This long, leisurely process allows the wine to express itself with clarity and depth, while retaining its energy and structure.
Taste
Zind Humbrecht Riesling Turckheim opens with a clean, precise and deeply mineral nose: lime peel, green apple, white flower and a background of wet stone and moss reminiscent of a forest after rain. On the palate, the attack is taut and vibrant, with marked but well-integrated acidity supporting juicy, subtle fruit: quince, ripe citrus, some pink grapefruit. As it progresses on the palate, it shows an enveloping, almost creamy texture, but always contained by the mineral backbone. The finish is long, saline and refreshing, leaving a sense of crystalline purity. It is a Riesling from Alsace that does not shout, but speaks with clarity and elegance, ideal both for sushi or poultry dishes, and for those who seek wines that faithfully reflect their origin without artifice.
