Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The red 2017 Terraprima wants to be a fresh and fragrant Mediterranean blend with the character of the limestone soils from the Garraf zone of Penedès. The blend varies with the vintage, and this 2017 is composed of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Garnacha and Syrah. It's a Mediterranean Bordeaux blend with herbal, spicy and peppery aromas and flavors and a medium-bodied palate with chalky, fine-grained tannins and good freshness. 2017 was a warm and very dry year, which is reflected in the wine. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2019.

Description
Terraprima Tinto is a red wine that reflects the Mediterranean in every glass. This wine, from the Massís del Garraf, is a perfect combination of Garnacha, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
Beyond its taste and elaboration, Terraprima Tinto has a story to tell. The vines from which this wine comes were on the verge of disappearing, as the Mas Sunyer area in the Garraf was to be cleared to build a cement factory. However, Carlos Esteva intervened, saving these centuries-old vines from turning to dust. He bought the land, thus preventing the development of the quarry and preserving a priceless wine-growing heritage.
Elaboration
Each variety is fermented separately at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, undergoing pre-fermentative and then post-fermentative maceration. The ageing process, which lasts between 8 and 12 months, is carried out in new, first and second year barrels, which gives it a unique complexity and maturity.
Taste
Terraprima Tinto has a ruby red colour, which invites us to discover its secrets. On the nose, it surprises us with aromas of red plum, berries and black olives, complemented by spicy notes that evoke thyme and undergrowth. On the palate, the flavour is richly expressive, with soft tannins and marked acidity. The Cabernet Franc gives it a distinctive herbaceous character, accompanied by red fruit and the notes of its ageing.
