Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This tiny 1.33-hectare plot, entirely planted with Pinot Noir in 1993, is the cradle of the 2015 Extra-Brut Premier Cru Dizy - Terres Rouges. Revealing aromas of spring flowers, herbs, toast, tobacco leaf, red berries and menthol, it's medium to full-bodied, tense and straight, structured and perfectly balanced, with a long, phenolic and chalky finish. This is an excellent, singular rendition of Pinot Noir, a combination of finesse and power. Disgorged in March 2023 with no dosage.

Description
At Jacquesson, the Jacquesson Dizy Terres Rouges cuvée is born of an almost obstinate conviction: in Champagne there is also a vineyard that speaks when you take the make-up off. Here there are no blends to round off edges or sugar to "make it easy"; there is a specific plot and a courageous decision repeated year after year: to let the soil set the pace, even if the wine becomes more demanding. At the foot of a gentle east-facing slope, Dizy expresses itself with a small amphitheatre of reddish-brown limestone and remarkable depth, supported by layers of calcareous imprint; a combination that provides structure, but also that chalky tension that squeezes the mouth with precision. The vines are planted at high density and worked with respect, seeking to express the diversity of the site above any cosmetic effect. Jacquesson Dizy Terres Rouges is 100% Pinot Noir, and this choice defines its character: more backbone than perfume, more relief than sweetness.
Winemaking
At Jacquesson Dizy Terres Rouges, the grapes go in with the aim of preserving purity and energy. After pressing, vinification is geared towards transparency: fermentations that prioritise balance and patient ageing in wooden vats on the lees, to gain texture and depth without dressing the wine with barrel aromas. There are no shortcuts: no filtration or fining, so as not to dilute the imprint of the terroir. The style culminates in a coherent and radical gesture: zero dosage, so that the minerality and salinity are not obscured by anything.
Taste
Jacquesson Dizy Terres Rouges is not a "sweet and sweet" Blanc de Noirs; it is an extra brut Champagne with a firm line. The nose opens with cherry and raspberry, then white fruit, followed by the serious part: fine toast, a touch of white pepper and an earthy nuance reminiscent of dried leaves. With air, herbs appear, a touch of menthol and a chalky sensation that is not an aroma, but a landscape. On the palate it is dry, structured and sapid, with a bubble that accompanies without distracting and a slight phenolic bite that makes it gastronomic. The finish is long, chalky and saline, leaving the sensation of an athletic wine: pure, straight and uncompromising.
