Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The red produced with purchased grapes from local growers, the 2018 Portela do Vento was produced with Mencía and 30% other local grapes from old vines in different subzones of Ribeira Sacra (but sold without DO), Amandi and Val do Bibei (from the Pobra do Trives). It fermented with 30% full clusters in stainless steel and oak vats and matured in oak and chestnut vats for 11 months. It has a very floral nose and is perfumed and juicy, with focused and clean flavors and aromas, very fine tannins and a peachy quality to it. There is a violet-pastille quality here that is quite distinct. 8,375 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2019.
