Description
Comando G Rozas is a 100% Garnacha wine, made from old vines over 90 years old located in the Sierra de Gredos. These vines are located at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level, in granitic soils that provide a marked minerality to the wine. This viticulture project is led by Fernando García and Daniel Gómez Jiménez Landi, who have developed a biodynamic and minimal intervention agriculture approach, seeking to highlight the authenticity of the terroir.
The vineyards are located in small plots with mainly granitic soils, which provide a characteristic minerality and favour excellent drainage, ideal for growing Garnacha in these conditions. The altitude and the location in the Sierra de Gredos provide a cooler climate, despite the warmth of the area, which results in wines with freshness and good natural acidity.
Winemaking
Winemaking is carried out in a traditional way. The grapes are harvested by hand at their optimum point of ripeness, following environmentally friendly practices. Fermentation is spontaneous, using indigenous yeasts, which reinforces the unique character of the wine and its connection with the terroir. The maceration is gentle, avoiding excessive extractions to preserve the aromatic and elegant profile of the Garnacha.
The ageing process takes place for 10 months in a combination of large wooden vats and concrete tanks. These vats allow controlled micro-oxygenation, which contributes to the development of fine tannins and the integration of flavours, without losing the freshness of the fruit. The wine is bottled without fining or filtering, ensuring that it retains its authenticity and complexity.
Taste
Comando G Rozas stands out for its freshness and elegance in the mouth. Aromas of fresh red fruits such as raspberry and strawberry are present from the first moment, accompanied by subtle citrus touches that evoke orange peel. On the palate, it has a vibrant acidity that gives it fluidity and maintains its fresh structure, while fine tannins add body and a silky sensation. The mineral profile, typical of granitic soils, is evident and culminates in a lingering, memorable finish.
