Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 La Baixada wine is from a 'vinya classificada' (a classified vineyard), one of the official single-vineyard categories of the Priorat appellation, 1.3 hectares of organically farmed vines on slopes in the village of Gratallops at 293 to 345 meters above sea level, mostly Garnacha with 5% Garnacha Blanca. It fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in oval French oak foudres for 13 months, followed by a further two months in concrete. It was bottled with 14.4% alcohol, a pH of 3.47 and 4.87 grams of acidity. The sample that I tasted unbottled last year was darker and earthier; this has kept a deeper color and a powerful and earthy nose but a more polished palate with abundant, fine-grained, slightly dusty tannins. This is definitely an earthier wine. 3,460 bottles were filled in February 2025.
