Buy Wine from Bodegas 6º Elemento
Bodegas 6º Elemento is a jewel located in Venta del Moro, on the high plateau of the Cabriel River, within the Valencian Community, but its influence and style transcends borders, extending into the Bierzo wine region of Castilla y León. Although this winery is relatively young, its roots are deeply rooted in a family history rich in winemaking tradition going back several generations.
In its beginnings, the family already cultivated vines, but it was Rafa's great-grandfather who made the last wine before the tradition was lost with the modernisation of the countryside. However, in an effort to return to the roots, Rafa and Silvia decided to take up the family legacy and create wines with a deep connection to the past, but adapted to the demands and techniques of the present.
Vineyards
The vineyards of Bodegas 6º Elemento extend in a privileged location within the high plateau of the Cabriel River, between 750 and 1000 metres above sea level. This place is considered by the family as a "hidden treasure" due to its unique conditions for grape growing. The soils are mainly clay-sandy, which provides an excellent capacity to retain nutrients and water. This particularity, combined with the climatic conditions of the high plateau, provides an optimal environment for viticulture.
The terroir of this area is favoured by a Mediterranean climate, albeit with mountainous influences, which allows for temperature differences of up to 20 degrees between day and night. These thermal variations help to maintain good acidity and freshness in the grapes, fundamental characteristics for producing high quality wines.
As for the grape varieties grown, the winery has opted to recover native grape varieties that have endured over the centuries. Among them, Bobal stands out, the region's star variety, which occupies 75% of the vineyard. Less common grapes are also grown, such as Tardana for white wines and the almost extinct Royal grape. The winery's commitment to the preservation of these traditional varieties is an essential part of its identity, and the use of these grape varieties gives its wines a unique personality.
Philosophy
The philosophy of Bodegas 6º Elemento is based on a deep respect for the land and traditional winemaking techniques. For Rafa and Silvia, winemaking is an art that must honour what nature has to offer, without interfering in the process in an aggressive way. They follow a methodology of minimal intervention, which seeks to preserve the pure essence of the grape and the terroir.
One of the most important aspects of their process is fermentation without the use of chemical additives, relying solely on the indigenous yeasts found naturally on the grapes. In this way, they achieve an authentic expression of the fruit, which is reflected in original aromas and flavours true to the essence of the grape. In addition, they avoid processes that could alter or damage the character of the wine, such as filtering, heating, centrifugation or fining.
The winery's winemaking technique is completely artisanal, maintaining a direct connection between the vineyard and the wine that reaches the bottle. By not intervening excessively in the vinification process, they allow the wine to evolve naturally, which gives rise to unique wines with a marked personality and faithful to their origin.
Their production is marked by sustainability and respect for natural cycles. The result of this dedication and approach is a range of wines that manage to capture the essence of the landscape in which they are born, transmitting the emotion and authenticity of each vintage.
The wines of Bodegas 6º Elemento are known for their structure, elegance and purity. The winery produces a range of wines that encompasses reds and whites, always with a focus on highlighting the essence of the indigenous varieties and terroir. Each wine is the result of a long maturation cycle, which allows them to develop complex and profound characteristics.
One of the winery's most outstanding wines is 6º Elemento Bobal, a powerful and structured red wine that ages for 11 months in French and American oak barrels. This wine expresses all the richness of the Bobal variety, with a balance between fruit and tannins that makes it ideal for pairing with red meats and traditional dishes; another emblematic wine is David & Goliath, which, after 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels, offers a fruity and juicy experience in the mouth; And finally, its most acclaimed wine, Respeto, stands out for its elegance and ageing capacity, as it spends 24 months in French oak barrels, developing an aromatic and gustatory complexity that makes it ideal for special moments.
The essence of the winery lies in allowing the wine to be a direct expression of the grape and the soil in which it grows. Their natural wines are not simply a trend, but a statement of principle: to preserve the purity and identity of each bottle, allowing the character of the wine to speak for itself.
