Description

Rossignol-Trapet was founded through the union of two deeply Burgundian lineages: the Rossignols of Volnay and the Trapets of Gevrey Chambertin. Since 1990, Nicolas and David have carried this legacy forward through an increasingly sensitive approach to viticulture, culminating in the domaine’s conversion to biodynamic farming. In Burgundy, where tradition carries great weight, this decision was also a statement of character: not to impose an idea on the vineyard, but to let the land express itself with as little interference as possible. Rossignol Trapet Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, comes from one of Beaune’s most distinguished climats, a site where limestone, clay and stone imbue the wine with a very distinctive tension. The continental climate of the Côte de Beaune, with cold winters and mild to warm summers, allows for precise ripeness without losing freshness. Les Teurons offers precisely that: depth without heaviness, energy without stridency, a very Burgundian blend of fleshiness and vigour.

Winemaking

In the cellar, Rossignol-Trapet works with calm precision and very measured intervention. Fifty per cent whole bunches were used , not as a stylistic choice, but to achieve tension, spicy complexity and a more airy structure. Extraction is kept gentle, with less pumping over, so that Rossignol-Trapet Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons retains its detail and transparency. Following fermentation and malolactic fermentation, the wine rests on its fine lees, gaining tactile depth without losing definition. Ageing continues for 15 months in French oak barrels (10% new), so that the wood complements, organises and supports the wine, but never masks the character of the cru.

Taste

In the glass, Rossignol Trapet Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons is restrained at first, but soon reveals a nose of fresh cherry, crisp raspberry and a very delicate dark plum, always far from any excess. This is followed by hints of warm earth, a subtle smoky nuance, dried spices and a chalky sensation that lends it a more serious character. On the palate, it is silky, juicy and precise, with polished tannins and a freshness that gives the wine an elegant length. The finish offers sour cherry, damp stone and a lingering spicy note. A fragrant and earthy Burgundy Pinot Noir, delicate yet with depth.
