The 2021 Reserve White, crafted solely from Sauvignon Blanc grapes with 13% alcohol, showcases a leesy, nutty character intertwined with vibrant citrus, succulent grapefruit notes and hints of dusty citrus blossoms. While it possesses a medium body, it surprises with its weighty mouthfeel, culminating in a finish laced with sensations of petrichor and citrus, driven by dusty minerals. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this wine were meticulously selected from specific parcels within the vineyards. Fermented spontaneously in French oak, the wine aged on the lees for 10 months, enhancing its complexity and texture. Some 6,600 bottles were produced.

Description
Reyneke Reserve White is a sublime expression of white wine, whose main protagonist is the Sauvignon Blanc variety. Produced by Reyneke Wines in the Stellenbosch wine region, this wine stands out for its dry character and full body. With an alcohol content of 13.13%, it has a pH of 3.13, a residual sugar level of 1.3 g/l and a total acidity of 6.9 g/l.
Winemaking
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are carefully selected from specially chosen plots within the Reyneke vineyards. These grapes are harvested by hand and then cooled overnight before being whole bunch pressed. In the cellar, the must is left to settle naturally overnight without the aid of enzymes. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in 300-litre French oak barrels, 80% of which are first-use barrels. After fermentation, the wine is aged on the lees in oak barrels for 10 months. Finally, it receives its first dose of SO2 once it is racked out of the barrel for bottling.
Taste
This wine displays immediate aromas of lime, lemon and elderflower, complemented by distinctive notes of flint and hints of grapefruit peel. On the palate, it is a refined wine with flavours of lime, grapefruit and passion fruit, which are perfectly balanced by fine acidity and subtle oak complexity. The finish is long and layered, leaving a lasting impression of finesse.
