Description
Frontio Follaco wine is made organically by Thyge Benned, a Danish winegrower who founded the Frontio winery in Arribes del Duero, Spain, in 2016, and who makes all his wines in an artisanal way.
Both the wines produced by Chus, as he is better known, and the names of each one of them, highlight the peculiar personality of the man who decided to leave everything behind in Copenhagen to fulfil his dream of making the best natural wines.
Winemaking
Frontio Follaco wine is made from the indigenous grape varieties Tempranillo, Juan García, Rufete and Bruñal. These are grown organically in vineyards with granite, gravel and quartz soils. During the harvest, the grapes are selected by hand. Afterwards, the grapes are macerated for three weeks together, whole, without destemming.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and a spontaneous malolactic fermentation.
The wine is then aged for nine months in oak barrels that are between three and eight years old. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtering or fining, and no sulphites are added.
Taste
The young red wine Frontio Follaco is fruity and quite juicy. It is a natural and calm wine. On the nose it leaves floral and herbaceous notes. It has good proportion and balance. It is a moderate and fresh wine, with a red fruit flavour.

This red wine with such an interesting name comes under the Arribes Denomination of Origin and should be served at 13°, at a working lunch or with family and friends. Follaco red wine goes perfectly with red meat, fish, cheese and pasta.
