I tasted two vintages of this wine, 2023 and 2024, and they were still unbottled. The 2023 Viñas Viejas de Soria is the expression of 35 different plots in the village of Atauta that have been worked organically and biodynamically since 2011 and are in the process of obtaining organic certification. It is mostly Tinto Fino with 4% Albillo and 1% Alicante Bouschet fermented with a small amount of full clusters and some 10% must without skins from the white grapes and some of the reds in open-top oak vats of different sizes. Since November 2023, it has been maturing in 23 228-liter Burgundian barrels, 26% of them new, where the wine is still aging. The wine has 14.18% alcohol, a pH of 3.69 and 4.8 grams of acidity. It's a very complete and balanced year, with fine tannins. I'd give them all a little bit of time in bottle to absorb the effect of the élevage. Production should be 6,950 bottles, quite accurate, and it should be bottled in June 2025, a few weeks after I tasted the samples, which were ready but all still in barrel.
