Description
Barranco Oscuro Xarab by M. Valenzuela is a natural sweet wine from the Barranco Oscuro winery, located in the Sierra de Granada. This wine is a creation of Manuel and Lorenzo Valenzuela, who cultivate 1200 Pedro Ximénez vines at 1300 metres above sea level, in grey-brown slate soils.
Winemaking
Production is limited and the grapes are harvested very ripe by hand, then dried in the sun. Fermentation is carried out with wild yeasts, and the wine is aged for three years in small oak barrels, without using sulphur in the process.
Taste
Xarab offers a wide range of flavours, with notes of honey, dried fruits, almonds, sweet spices and orange peel. Its texture is creamy and concentrated, but balanced with a lively freshness that counterbalances its syrupy consistency. On the nose, intense aromas of wax, jelly, peach in syrup, citrus peel, molasses, toffee liqueur and vanilla. On the palate, it is sweet, fluid, with a medium-high acidity that gives it elegance, and a medium body that culminates in a long, lingering finish. This wine is an excellent choice for those looking for a different and sophisticated experience in natural sweet wines.
