The Jean Faux Winery is located in France, specifically in the village of Sainte-Radegonde. It is located inside the former property of Ezéchiel de Mas, Count of Mélac, who was general of Louis XIV.
This winery has a century-old family history. The château was renovated in the 17th century, and by 1886, it was already recognised as one of the local wineries with the largest annual wine production of 120 barrels.
A new era begins for Jean Faux Winery.
In 2002, the vineyards were purchased by Pascal Collotte and his wife, Chrystel, and so began a new era for Jean Faux Winery. This was a dream come true for Collotte, who had always wanted to become a winegrower. Chrystel is a native of the village of Sainte-Radegonde, where Jean Faux Winery is located.
At the time of his purchase, the house was 45 hectares, which included only 1.5 hectares of vineyards. Today there are 12 hectares with different grape varieties for the production of red wine, and 2 hectares where grapes are grown for the production of white wine. The vines are mainly sauvignon blanc, semillon, merlot and cabernet franc.
The best wines of Sainte-Radegonde
In 2011, the Jean Faux Winery became biodynamic and the vineyard was certified biodynamic in 2016. Renowned microbiologists Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, recognised how valuable the terroirs of Château Jean Faux are for the vines. For this, they carried out soil analyses.
Moreover, Stéphane Derenoncourt has been the estate's consultant and advisor since 2003.
That is why the wines produced at the Jean Faux winery express the terroir very well, and have been recognised as some of the best wines of Sainte-Radegonde. They are unique wines with a strong identity, made according to principles that respect nature, and this can be perceived in every drop.

Geographical factors are determining factors for the cultivation of the vineyards. So the cultivation techniques applied take these factors into account in order to obtain the best results. By knowing the climate, soil type, relief and other aspects of the area, it is possible to make the most of its attributes to obtain the best results.
However, what characterises Pascal Collotte the most is that he avoids the use of herbicides and pesticides in the vineyards. He knows that this affects the biodiversity of the area, the plants, the animals and even the people who work there, and of course has an impact not only on the smell and taste of the wine, but also on its quality.
At Bodega, it also avoids the use of chemicals. The wines are made with as little intervention as possible, and the fermentation process is carried out with indigenous yeasts.

In addition to running the Jean Faux winery, Collotte created the Provin business in 2012, where he supports and promotes wines made organically and biodynamically, such as those produced at his winery.
Breaking with certain modern schemes, from the Jean Faux Winery and now through Provin, Collotte seeks to rescue the ancestral cultivation techniques, and that more and more organic wines are produced.
