Château de Pibarnon is a winery that produces wines defined as majestic and elegant, not only because of the marine touch provided by the proximity of its lands to the Mediterranean, but also because its vines are cultivated through unusual techniques where restanques are used.
Thanks to its location at 300 metres above sea level, there is a perfect symbiosis between the soil and the fruit, giving rise to wines with incomparable flavours and textures.
The main crop is Mourvèdre, although other types of grapes such as Grenache are also grown here. However, they always ensure that the ecological techniques used respect the local environment.
Let's talk about its history
The history of the Château de Pibarnon winery began when Catherine and Henri de Saint Victor decided to acquire the land at the end of 1970.
Already knowing the potential of the region in terms of wine production, they decided to work tirelessly, not only to produce great varieties of wines classified as the best in the region, but also to build iconic natural landscapes.
Today, the winery is run by the couple's son, Eric de Saint Victor, who continued the legacy of producing the best red wines in the region.
Techniques used
As we have already mentioned, the techniques and inputs used by this winery for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of the grapes follow the philosophy of organic farming, guaranteeing respect for the environment.
The soils of this estate are calcareous sandy soils, which in addition to being rich in minerals, retain enough water, even in the driest years, to guarantee optimum ripening of the fruit.
The subsoils of these soils are blue clay, which has a positive impact on the aromas and textures of the wine, as the grapes bring refined touches to the nose and smoothness to the palate.
Harvesting is always carried out using artisanal techniques, considering that the terrain where the vineyards are located tends to be steep and staggered. As for the fermentation of the fruit, it is carried out with indigenous yeasts, without the intervention of chemical elements, in stainless steel barrels, where the must remains macerating with its skins for a period of time that depends on the wine to be made.
Once fermented, the wine is aged in old and new French oak barrels.

The vineyards of this winery are very peculiar, as the fruit grows surrounded by various plants, which not only serve as protection from the winds, but also provide a majestic backdrop, even leading the locals to classify it as the most legendary estate in Bandol.
The vineyards have an average age of 12 to 65 years, so its wines are classified as high quality specimens. Since 2019, this estate has been officially certified for the ecological techniques used to produce its wines.
In addition to minimising the use of techniques and products that have a negative impact on the environment, they ensure that the fruit develops in a 100% natural environment.
