Description
Terra Remota Ales Negres was born from a very clear idea: to bottle the freshest, most straightforward and vibrant side of the Mediterranean. At Terra Remota, they are not looking for a bombastic or overripe Garnacha, but rather a finer, more ethereal and more serious interpretation of the landscape. The estate, characterised by a Mediterranean climate, the influence of the tramontana wind and poor, clay-limestone soils, forces the vines to fight, to sink their roots deep and to speak with an accent of dry earth, herbs and stone. There is a bold decision behind this wine: to eschew embellishment and let the Garnacha Negra reveal its vigour, clarity and tension.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, selecting healthy, precise fruit directly from the vineyard. In the winery, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of between 18 and 20 ºC, preserving the fruit’s vitality and preventing Dureza. Maceration, lasting three to four weeks, refines the tannins and adds depth without losing fluidity. Terra Remota Ales Negres then rests for nine months in stainless steel tanks. And that is crucial: here, there is no oak to impart aroma or body; only the desire to preserve the purity of the fruit, its natural freshness and a clear expression of the terroir. This is how this Garnacha Tinta red wine—with its direct, food-friendly and very honest profile—is crafted.
Flavour
On the nose, Terra Remota Ales Negres opens with dark red fruit —cherry, ripe raspberry and plum—but something more serious soon emerges: pepper, scrubland, a balsamic undertone and that stony nuance that cools the whole. Nothing exuberant, nothing cloying. On the palate it is juicy, yes, but above all taut, with lively acidity and fine tannins. The fruit runs straight through, accompanied by spices and a slightly bitter aftertaste that lends character. This organic wine has freshness, drive and an austere elegance: less volume, more grip; less artifice, more stone, more salinity, more length.
