Description

Philippe Brand Kvevri is a wine from Alsace that is characterised by its innovative approach while maintaining a connection with tradition. Philippe Brand, together with his father, produces this wine at the Domaine Brand et Fils, a family winery operating under organic and biodynamic principles since 2001 and 2015, respectively.

Winemaking

Philippe Brand Kvevri is a blend of Auxerrois, Chardonnay and Riesling, made in Georgian amphorae known as Kvevri. The vineyards are located in Alsace and the predominant soil is clay-limestone, which gives minerality to the wines. As for the vinification process, fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in Kvevris imported from Georgia, each of 800 litres, covered with a thin layer of beeswax. Maceration is extended for 10 months, followed by a further 2 months of ageing, all without filtration or addition of sulphites.

Taste

Philippe Brand Kvevri offers a structured texture with a clear grip, a common characteristic of Georgian amber wines due to the maceration time. It has balanced acidity and a mouthfeel rich in tannins, reminiscent of long-skinned wines. This wine is ideal for those seeking a complex sensory experience, where the minerality and character of the clay-limestone soils merge with the unique aromatic profile of the varietal blend.
