Description
Since the beginning of the 20th century, Monopole has been synonymous with uniqueness within Rioja. It was one of the first white wines bottled in Spain, the result of a courageous decision: to opt for Viura as a unique variety in a land of reds. Today, this classic expression remains faithful to that original vision, made with grapes from our own vineyards in La Rioja Alta and from trusted winegrowers. The vines, trained in goblet and cultivated by hand, grow on fresh loamy clay soils that give the wine finesse and tension.
Winemaking
The vinification of Monopole respects varietal purity to the utmost. The grapes undergo a cold maceration with skins for 8 hours at 10-12°C, extracting primary aromas and structure. A gentle pressing releases the free-run juice, which ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. There is no oak ageing or marked interventions: the aim is to achieve precision, freshness and an authentic expression of the Viura grape. After a short rest, Monopole is bottled young, ready to express its most honest profile.
Taste
Sober, but with character, Monopole displays on the nose a subtle range of white flowers, slightly ripe stone fruit and a background of almond and fennel. On the palate, it is direct, with a firm acidity that lengthens the palate and maintains tension. There is a slight bitterness on the finish, elegant and dry, which adds depth without resorting to opulence. There is no artifice or excess of fruit: this white is for those who value restrained minerality and austere elegance. Its gastronomic versatility makes it a great ally for white fish, grilled vegetables or mild cheeses. In essence, Monopole is a classic Rioja white that does not need to shout to be heard.
