Description

The story of Cune Verdejo was born from a simple but courageous intuition: to take the know-how of a century-old Rioja winery -CVNE- to the stony and luminous soils of Rueda. There, in the Castilian highlands where the continental climate imposes cold nights and dry days, they found the ideal place to express the purity of Verdejo without artifice.

The queen variety of the area -100% Verdejo-is grown on gravelly soils of alluvial origin, which provide freshness and mineral tension. CVNE 's technical team opted for a young and direct profile, seeking to capture the liveliness of the fruit without make-up, and with a night harvest to preserve aromas.

Winemaking

Once gently pressed, the grapes destined for Cune Verdejo are transferred to stainless steel tanks, where fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. This process seeks to fix the primary aromas -fruity, herbaceous and floral- that characterise the variety. Without oak ageing or excessive intervention, Cune Verdejo maintains its varietal identity and fresh profile. After a brief stabilisation in tank, it is bottled preserving its clean and expressive character.

Taste

Cune Verdejo shines in the glass with a pale yellow colour and greenish reflections. On the nose, it displays an aromatic intensity marked by white fruit (pear, apple), subtle tropical touches (pineapple, passion fruit), fennel and a balsamic background. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with a lively acidity and an agile passage. Notes of stone fruit, fresh herbaceous notes and that slight bitter finish so characteristic of Verdejo, which provides structure and persistence.

A young white wine but with nerve, designed for those who value varietal honesty. Ideal as an aperitif, or to accompany fish, seafood or Asian dishes with citrus and fresh notes.
