Description
Garnacha de Fuego is a red wine produced by Bodegas Breca, part of the Jorge Ordóñez group. This wine, from the D.O. Calatayud, is made entirely from 100% Garnacha grapes. The vineyards that give rise to this wine are between 50 and 75 years old and are located at an altitude that varies between 800 and 1,000 metres above sea level in towns such as Munébrega, Murero and Paracuellos de Jiloca, in the province of Zaragoza. These vineyards are grown in soils of slate and quartzite from the Cambrian-Silurian period, which gives the wine a marked personality. The climate in this region is of an extreme continental type, with strong temperature variations between day and night.
Winemaking
As for the production of Garnacha de Fuego, the grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes to preserve the integrity of the grapes, which are then fermented with wild yeasts in cement and stainless steel tanks. Ageing is also carried out in these same tanks, maintaining the purity and freshness of the Garnacha grapes. Before bottling, the wine undergoes natural clarification, without being filtered, which contributes to its honest, artisanal character.
Taste
Garnacha de Fuego offers a taste experience marked by its freshness and authenticity. On the palate, notes of ripe red fruits such as raspberry and cherry stand out, accompanied by a mineral background from the slate soils. Its texture is smooth and enveloping, with rounded tannins that provide a balanced structure. The final touch is slightly spicy, with a subtle hint of pepper, which adds complexity to the whole. All in all, it is a wine with a fruity and mineral profile, easy to drink but with remarkable depth.
