The red 2017 Bastión de Luna has the local grapes Caíño, Loureiro and Espadeiro from 40- to 60-year-old vines on sandy granite soils. The blend fermented destemmed in stainless steel and open-top barrels and matured in 225- and 500-liter oak barrels for 12 months. The aromatic profile is a little different, with some meaty notes, blood and iron, peculiar but interesting. The palate is quite sharp for a warm year, there are flavors of acid berries with lots of tension and a salty twist. 2,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2019.
