Coming from a cooler year with good rain and wines with ripeness and freshness, the 2021 Allende Blanco is expressive, clean and still young. It's mostly Viura with some 5% Malvasía Riojana and has 13.6% alcohol and very good freshness showcased by the pH of 3.24. It has a medium-bodied palate with a velvety mouthfeel and very pure flavors. The oak is neatly integrated, and the wine comes through as fresh and harmonious, with stuffing and balance between the elements to develop nicely in bottle. It spent 14 months in French barrels, the seven first with the lees and bâtonnage twice per week and the rest clean, without lees. This is one of the finest vintages for this wine. 36,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2023.

Description
Allende Blanco is a white wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja made at Finca Allende, which is located in Briones in La Rioja Alta. This wine has been made mainly with Viura and a small amount of Malvasia from vineyards with an average age of 55 years, owned by the winery.
With this wine, the manager Miguel Ángel de Gregorio has demonstrated that he is capable of making excellent white wines at his Briones estate, undoubtedly one of the best winemakers in Spain!
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected in the winery. Fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature of 20 °C for 28 days with indigenous yeasts. Aging lasts 14 months in French oak Bordeaux barrels, the first seven months on the lees, with battonage twice a week with subsequent racking and another seven months of aging without lees.

Allende Blanco stands out for its great volume and fruity aromatic intensity, light toasted notes and a light and persistent mouthfeel.
