Buy Wine from Vinos Tricó
Vinos Tricó is the personal project of José Antonio López, whose first Albariño was launched on the market in 2007. Its 10 hectares of vineyards are located in the Condado area (Galicia), specifically in Valeixe, Salvaterra, As Neves and Arbo. There the cultivation is carried out under a philosophy of utmost respect for the environment, using a non-interventionist viticulture. "Tricó" is the name given in some parts of Galicia to the late, almost unexpected offspring that end up being the most pampered and the joy of the house. This is how José Antonio felt when he started his winery, after several winemaking experiences.
Vineyards of Tricó Wines
At Vinos Tricó, every element is designed to be the manifestation of a Galician feeling. The project aims to extract the true character of the albariño variety and for it to express itself authentically.
In the 10 hectares of vineyards of Vinos Tricó, Albariños are grown on granitic soils with sand on the surface, very typical of the interior of the Condado sub-area. The grape yields are moderate, not exceeding 8,000 kilos per hectare, with the aim of obtaining sufficient concentration to produce wines with personality, and support the development in the bottle.
The work in the vineyards is based on the most natural viticulture possible, seeking to obtain optimum raw material so that the winemaking process is as non-interventionist as possible. They work with the fundamentals of what they call "field oenology", which is where they pay the most precise attention and care. Tilling is done in spring, with organic fertilisers, and sometimes cereal is even sown between rows to avoid rainwater run-off from the winter.
The grapes are harvested at the most suitable time and immediately taken to the winery. When it arrives at the winery, it is taken to a very simple pneumatic press, which allows the extraction of very fine, clean musts which, once obtained, are decanted and fermented at a controlled temperature.
Tricó Wines
With very delicate elaborations that seek to respect the characteristics of each vintage, the winery produces wines of great longevity with the D.O. Rías Baixas. Among their outstanding wines, we find the organic white wines Tricó 2016 and Nicolás de Tricó 2016.
