Buy Wine from Tamerán
Tamerán is the name of the project directed by David Silva, a football player who has managed to materialise a dream in his homeland, Gran Canaria, together with the famous winemaker and oenologist Jonathan García of the Suertes del Marqués winery.
The winery is located in the Caldera de Tirajana, providing not only some of the best vineyards in the sector, but also a landscape made up of vineyards facing the palm grove of Santa Lucía and the summit of Gran Canaria.
Let's talk about its history
David Silva is a famous football player who, as well as being a sports enthusiast, has expressed his love for winemaking. He started in the world of winemaking by investing in Soto Manrique, a winery that has been valued by experts for the magnificence of its wines.
In 2019 he had the opportunity to acquire an estate and it was then that he decided that it was time to make his dreams come true.
Tamerán is the name of his new project, a winery located in a strategic place in Tirajana, 700 metres above sea level, surrounded by a mountainous area that largely determines the quality of his wines.
The eight hectares of vineyards have been the setting for the vinification of its first vintage in 2020.
The result has been the presentation of several quality wines, which have even received the applause of critics and consumers.
Techniques used
Bodega Tamerán uses different varieties of Canary Island grapes to make its wines, which is why each grape has its own particularities that make it unique.
Some of the most commonly used are verdello, baboso blanco, vijariego negro, vijariego blanco, marmajuelo, malvasía aromática and malvasía volcánica.
The vinification of the fruit is classified as not very interventionist, as from the harvesting process, the grapes are allowed to express themselves in 100% natural terms.
In the fermentation phase, native yeasts are used so as not to alter the flavour of the grapes and so that they can express themselves without the intervention of chemicals during the ageing process.
The ageing is carried out in large barrels and the length of time depends on the specimen. The result is refreshing wines, with unique mineral touches, which express in each sip the particularity of the microclimate, the volcanic soils and the native grapes.
Vineyards
The vineyards of Bodega Tamerán cover approximately 1,400 square metres, made up of volcanic soils located 700 metres above sea level, which make the cultivation of native varieties such as verdello, marmajuelo, baboso blanco, vijariego and malvasía a favourable environment.
The space is divided into two floors, each of which has a specific function. The winery is run by a winemaker who ensures that the grapes are treated using natural techniques without human manipulation or the addition of chemicals that could alter the flavours or aromas.
In this way, he makes possible the positioning of unique and quality wines, which have even achieved high ratings in the Peñín Guide, with examples such as Tamerán Marmajuelo, Tamerán Malvasía Volcánica and Tamerán Verdello.
Fresh and mineral wines
The Tamerán winery has managed to position itself as one of the best in Gran Canaria, thanks to the particularity and freshness of its wines, and the mineral touch provided by the location of its vineyards.
