Buy Wine from Domaine de la Réserve d'O
In the vast world of wine, there are nooks and crannies that exude the pure essence of the land and the passion of those who work it. One such magical place is Arboras, in the prestigious Languedoc wine region. Here, in 2004, Marie and Frédéric Chauffray brought a dream to life, creating La Réserve d'O.
Location and history of the winery
Marie and Frederic Chauffray began their journey in the world of wine by taking over Fred's parents' wine shop, located in a suburb just outside Paris. They ran the business successfully for many years, but Marie always had a desire to go into winemaking. After 8 years of searching, they found the perfect terroir in a small vineyard in the hills above the city of Montpellier. Since 2004, they have been making wine in their own way, with respect for nature and following organic and biodynamic principles.
Vineyards
The soul of these wines is found in the 14 hectares at 400 metres altitude on the Larzac plateau overlooking the Hérault valley. The soils have a clay-limestone texture. This rich and generous soil, combined with the unique microclimate of cool winters and mild summers, is home to the native varieties of Languedoc: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. These grapes, under the meticulous care of the Chauffray family, are nourished by the soil and the climate, reflecting the essence of Arboras in every drop.
Philosophy and commitment
But what really makes La Réserve d'O special is its commitment to biodynamic viticulture. The Chauffrays don't just grow grapes; they seek a deep harmony with nature. Following the lunar and stellar rhythms, they apply ancestral techniques that enhance the vineyard's ecosystem. This approach results in a vineyard full of life and biodiversity, where each element plays a role in the balance of the terroir.
In the winery, winemaking is a reflection of this philosophy. With a respectful and minimalist approach, La Réserve d'O honours the integrity of the grapes. Fermentations are spontaneous, with indigenous yeasts that enhance the natural flavours and aromas of the grapes. Careful use of oak and traditional techniques ensure that each bottle is a genuine expression of the Arboras terroir.
