Buy Wine from Celler Martí Fabra
Celler Martí Fabra is a winery located in the town of Sant Climent Sescebes in the province of Girona; they own 28 hectares of old vineyards, with an average age between 50 and 80 years and an abundant diversity of varietals such as: Lledoner Blanc, Lledoner Negre, Cariñena, Cariñena blanca, Moscatel, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah and Merlot; its location in the Serra d'Albera, very close to the Mediterranean Sea and with abundant slate soils, with little organic matter that gives the wines an unmistakably mineral character that is complemented by a panoply of country aromas resulting from the proximity of the vegetation surrounding the vineyards.
Celler Martí Fabrahas its origins in the Carreras family, who since the 12th century were already making wine; it was in the 20th century when the surname Fabra was incorporated into the winery, giving it its present name.
Joan Fabra is the anima mater of Celler Martí Fabra and seems to have understood perfectly the legacy of his ancestors both in the way of cultivation and winemaking; in the vineyard a scrupulous and ancestral respect for the vineyard is practiced with minimal treatments with sulfur and copper sulfate, plowing the minimum and using natural fertilizer. In the winery, practices from the past are also followed: cement tanks and old wooden barrels in a winery dating from 1961, which is buried under the mountain in order to maintain optimum temperature and humidity conditions for the aging of the wines.
Among its wines we highlight its Flor d'Albera for its interesting blend of Muscat and Muscat with terpenic, smoky, saline and mineral aromas; the structured white Masía Carreras Blanc; its youngest and perhaps most recognized red wine as the winery's entrance door L'Oratori; or the Masía Carreras Negre with hints of candied fruit, spices and great persistence in the mouth.
Celler Martí Fabra produces around 100,000 bottles a year.
